Summary
A Delphi consensus from the Spanish Society of Pediatric Surgery on non-operative (conservative) management of solid organ injury following blunt abdominal trauma in children. Seventeen suggestions span four areas: criteria for PICU admission, discharge criteria and strict bed rest, laboratory and radiological monitoring, and restriction of physical activity. Consensus was achieved for 15 suggestions, but not for hospital discharge criteria or duration of strict bed rest. It aims to reduce variation in practice across Spanish centres and is relevant to PICU teams receiving paediatric abdominal trauma.
