Summary

Retrospective analysis of a prospectively collected multicentre paediatric Status Epilepticus Research Group dataset comparing time to treatment in refractory convulsive status epilepticus before and after publication of evidence highlighting treatment delays. Times to first benzodiazepine, first non-benzodiazepine antiseizure medication and first continuous infusion were unchanged, though more children with out-of-hospital onset received a benzodiazepine before hospital arrival. Relevant to PICU teams managing refractory status epilepticus and to quality improvement work on timely escalation of anticonvulsant therapy.
