Summary

Joint ESAIC/BJA evidence-based guideline on airway management in neonates and infants, developed using PICO questions and GRADE methodology. It covers seven domains: preoperative assessment and preparation, medications, techniques and algorithms, difficult airway recognition and management, confirmation of tracheal intubation, extubation, and human factors. Recommendations address adequate anaesthesia and neuromuscular blockade, videolaryngoscopy as first choice, apnoeic oxygenation, supraglottic rescue devices, limiting intubation attempts, capnography confirmation, and post-extubation non-invasive respiratory support. Highly applicable to PICU and neonatal airway practice.
