Summary
A JBI convergent segregated mixed methods systematic review of interventions that promote partnership between families and the multidisciplinary team in paediatric and neonatal intensive care. It included 42 quantitative and 6 qualitative studies examining outcomes such as parental stress, anxiety, depression, attachment and satisfaction with family-centred care. Meta-analyses suggested improvements in anxiety, stress and satisfaction, though heterogeneity was high and effects on attachment and depression were inconclusive. Qualitative synthesis highlighted that partnership interventions can enhance families' experience and capacity to care for their child during an impactful ICU admission.
