Summary
National guideline from the Turkish Neonatal Society on managing respiratory distress syndrome in preterm infants and the use of surfactant. It covers antenatal steroids, delivery room stabilisation with placental transfusion, early CPAP for alveolar recruitment, early rescue surfactant administration, gentle ventilation strategies and supportive care. Aimed at standardising practice in neonatal intensive care units, it is most relevant to neonatal teams but transfers to PICU staff caring for preterm or ex-preterm infants with respiratory failure.
