Summary
International evidence- and consensus-based guidelines for the intensive care of critically ill children with SARS-CoV-2 infection, applicable in both high- and limited-resource settings. Forty-four recommendations address respiratory distress and failure, sepsis and septic shock, cardiopulmonary arrest, multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), adjuvant therapies and ECMO. It also reviews possible reasons for milder paediatric disease and the role of repurposed antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic agents, with regional summaries of paediatric COVID-19. The aim is to harmonise PICU standards for this population globally.
