Summary
WHO pocket book giving structured guidance for inpatient care of children at first-level referral hospitals in resource-limited settings, aligned with the IMCI approach. It covers triage and emergency assessment, neonatal problems, pneumonia, diarrhoea, malaria, meningitis, severe acute malnutrition, HIV and selected surgical conditions, alongside supportive care such as oxygen therapy, fluids, nutrition and pain control. Annexes provide practical procedures, drug dosing and monitoring/discharge tools. It is aimed at doctors, nurses and other health workers and explicitly excludes advanced intensive care interventions.
