Summary
England's single national PEWS for children's inpatient wards, launched in November 2023 as part of the System-wide Paediatric Observations Tracking (SPOT) programme. Four age-specific observation and escalation charts (0-11 months, 1-4 years, 5-12 years, 13 and over) score physiological observations and include parent or carer concern as an escalation trigger in its own right. NHS England asks staff to complete the associated e-learning before using the charts.
