Summary
An international expert consensus from ESPNIC, the PALISI HCT-Cancer Immunotherapy Subgroup and the EBMT Paediatric Diseases Working Party on when to admit and how to manage children early in critical illness after haematopoietic cell transplant or immune effector cell therapy. Twenty-seven statements were drafted and voted on by an expert panel, with most reaching strong agreement. It addresses the 10-35% of HCT-IEC patients who become critically ill from disease- or treatment-related complications, and is intended for intensivists, haematologists and oncologists. It also highlights priorities for future research in this group.
