Summary

A retrospective registry cohort study of children who received CPR in intensive care units, examining vital signs recorded in the two hours before in-hospital cardiac arrest. Most patients had at least one abnormal prearrest vital sign, and low systolic blood pressure in particular was associated with lower odds of ROSC and survival to discharge, with a stepwise fall in survival as the number of abnormalities increased. The authors emphasise prompt recognition and treatment of deterioration in PICU. This is observational research rather than formal guidance, but relevant to PICU deterioration recognition.
