Summary
A randomised controlled trial of 26 paediatric residents comparing a tablet app guiding PALS algorithms in real time with PALS pocket reference cards during a simulated paediatric pulseless ventricular tachycardia arrest. The primary outcome was time from arrhythmia onset to first defibrillation attempt, with secondary outcomes including time to chest compressions, subsequent shocks and drug administration, and deviations from AHA guidance. App use was associated with shorter times to defibrillation, fewer medication and shock dose errors and better guideline adherence. Relevant to PICU resuscitation training and cognitive aid use during arrest management.
