Summary
Canadian national clinical practice guidelines on controlled paediatric donation after circulatory determination of death (DCD), developed with GRADE methodology and extensive multidisciplinary and external review. The summary report presents Good Practice Statements and recommendations spanning ethics, consent and withdrawal of life-sustaining therapy, donor eligibility, ante- and postmortem interventions, death determination, neonatal DCD, cardiac and innovative DCD, and implementation. It is directly relevant to PICU teams involved in end-of-life care, family communication and organ donation pathways. The authors position the process as a model for future deceased donation guideline development.
