Summary

This systematic review collates 44 published articles describing 59 paediatric cases of neurological involvement associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection, including an additional case of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis. Most cases arose in the context of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, with cerebrovascular events, reversible splenial lesions, Guillain-Barré syndrome, benign intracranial hypertension and meningoencephalitis also described. Imaging was performed in most cases and CSF viral detection was rare; outcomes were largely favourable. Useful background for PICU teams assessing children with neurological presentations during or after COVID-19.
